Mrs. Arietta Shadrick Painter, a loving mother and grandmother, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 26, 1921 in Forsyth County to Frank and Mattie Sells Shadrick. Mrs. Painter was retired from the Forsyth County School System, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Eugene Painter; two brothers, Clarence and Russell; a sister, Lillian Huff; a special niece, Barbara Shropshire; and a son-in-law, Jack Mays. Surviving are two daughters, Linda P. Mays of Winston-Salem and Karen P. Lowe of Kernersville; two sons, Gene Painter of Lexington, Rickey Painter and wife Mary Jo of Lewisville; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, May 18th at Waughtown Cemetery with Pastor Ed Sears officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Senior Services, 2895 Shorefair Dr. Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
