Anthony Harry Souzis

Mr. Anthony Harry Souzis, 68, passed away Wednesday morning at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Anthony was born in Maryland on April 12, 1947 to Harry George Souzis and Nina Arvanitis Souzis. He attended Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois and received his Bachelor's degree in Economics. Anthony worked for AAA, spanned 5 states, served as Director of Finance for the state of Arizona and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He was an avid collector of antique trains and greatly enjoyed gardening, but his greatest joy was being a devoted & loving father & grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother John Harry Souzis. Anthony is also survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Marshall Souzis; son David Marshall Souzis and wife, Donna Georgia Souzis; daughter Rebecca Souzis Hastings and husband, Darwin Coleman Hastings, III; two grandchildren Shelbi Jean Souzis and Victoria Elizabeth Hastings; two brothers George Harry Souzis and Perry Harry Souzis and wife, Donna Wagner Souzis; and brother in law Hilton Gooch Marshall and wife, Cynthia Covert Marshall. Anthony was raised in the Greek Orthodox Church, and his funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday April 2, 2016 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Demetri Kangelaris officiating. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made in Anthony's memory to Cancer Services 3175 Maplewood Avenue Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina, 4600 Park Road Suite 250, Charlotte NC 28209.
