Annie "Ruth" Skidmore

Mrs. Annie Ruth Mahaffey Skidmore, 81, of Winston-Salem, NC entered the more immediate presence of our Lord, Tuesday, January 1, 2019. She was born September 10th, 1937 in Forsyth County to the late Olin and Annie Mae Massey Mahaffey. She was married to the love of her life and high school sweetheart Ned (Skid) Corzine Skidmore Sr. since 1960.

Ruth was a graduate of Griffith High School, Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and Gardner Webb University. After years as an RN and Head Nurse of 4th Floor General at Forsyth Memorial Hospital she began teaching Medical Terminology and Anatomy at Forsyth Tech and Baptist Allied Health to up-and-coming medical professionals. She eventually retired from the medical profession.

Ruth loved the beach and spent as much time as she could at their condo in Garden City Beach, South Carolina. The beach was her solitude and there is no doubt that she is at peace on the shoreline in Heaven with the Lord our Father. She was a spiritual and nurturing woman, who was a member of Advent Moravian Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ned (Skid) Corzine Skidmore Sr., her parents and two brothers; Charles and Bob Mahaffey.

Surviving are 3 children: Terri Davis (Mark), Tracy Doub (Kevin), and Ned Corzine Skidmore Jr. "Cory" (Leah), 6 grandchildren: Tyler, Daylyn, Carson, Cory, Ryan, Rylee and a sister Jane Marshall as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and visitors at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Advent Moravian Church in the church sanctuary. A funeral service will be conducted in her honor at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church graveyard.
