Mrs. Annie ""Sue"" Brookshire Russell, 88, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born in Forsyth Co. on December 8, 1923 the daughter of the late Joel Benjamin Brookshire and Allie Victoria Davis Brookshire. Mrs. Russell was an active member of South Fork Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the WMU as long as her health permitted. Together with her late husband they owned and operated Gordon Manor Pharmacy in Winston-Salem for many years. Mrs. Russell would have wanted to be remembered for her love of the Lord, the love of her family and the love of her church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ritchie Andrew Russell Sr., two brothers, J.B. Brookshire and Robert ""Bob"" Brookshire and a daughter-in-law, Donna Russell. Mrs. Russell is survived by a daughter, Ruth Smith (Lawrence), three sons, Ritchie ""Andy"" Russell Jr., John Russell (Ann) and Jeffrey Russell (Connie), seven grandsons, Brandon Russell, James Smith, Ben Russell, Nathan Russell, Alex Moore, Thomas Moore and Chad McConnell, a sister, Maxine ""Teeny"" Davis, a sister-in-law, Peggy Brookshire and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Russell will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Rosebud Christian Church in Walnut Cove with Rev. Rick Sewell and Rev. Steve Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to; South Fork Baptist Church, 3830 Wayne Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
