Annie Laura Young Smith, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born on October 7, 1932, in Stokes County to the late Foy Young and Mamie Moran Young. Laura was a faithful member of Kernersville Moravian Church. She was the last surviving sibling of the Young family, but her memory will be carried on by the love of her child, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many more family members.

In addition to her parents and nine siblings, Laura is preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Brooks (Gerald); grandchildren Lauree Hayden (Richard), Julian Shores, Shanon Brooks, and Randy Brooks; 8 great-grandchildren Salem Ortiz (Brandon), Madison Willingham (Landon), Montanna Shores, Noah Shores, Emily, Meagan, Caleb Hayden, and Joshua Hayden; as well as 4 great-great-grandchildren Chloe, Kamryn, Kyah, and Lorraine.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, with Pastor Richard Hayden officiating. Memorials may be made to Kernersville Moravian Church at 504 S Main St, Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
