Annie Smith Howell
“Miss Annie” has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Annie was born on February 23, 1935 to John Odell and Mildred Allen Smith. She retired from Hanes, after many years of service. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, cooking, crocheting, spending time with her daughter and her special dog Heidi. Annie was eager to lend a helping hand and was happiest when helping others. She was a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church and loved attending church as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Lee Roy Howell, two brothers, Odell Glenn and Harold Wayne Sr., two sisters Nancy and Flora Mae, sister-in-law Peggy, brothers-in-law Roger and Thurmond, and nephew Dale. Left to cherish her memory are her only child, daughter Judy (Grey Marshall), brother Willie Gray, sister-in-law Elaine, several nieces and nephews, and Aunts Dorothy and Frances. Special thanks to Dr. Franklin Tolbert and Well Care Hospice for the excellent care provided to “Miss Annie.” Thanks to everyone who prayed for us, sent cards, and called during her illness. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Ronnie Craddock. “Miss Annie” will lie in state from 12:00 Noon to 1:45 PM at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church prior to the graveside service. Requested Memorials: Yadkin Valley Baptist Church, 1324 Yadkin Valley Road, Advance, NC 27006. Even though time cast a shadow on her memory, she still remembered Jesus’ name. I love you Mommy.
