Mrs. Annie Byrd Bradley Cook ""NaNaw,"" 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday evening, February 13, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born June 22, 1923, in Franklin, N.C. to the late John Everette and Beulah Byrd Bradley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arville Franklin Cook ""Hobb""; her son, Lanny Ross Cook; her four brothers, Ralph Bradley (Kate), Carl Bradley, Troy Bradley (Ruth), Verlin Bradley (Louise); five sisters, Leobelle Bradley Gibson (Frank), Vernice Bradley, Grace Bradley Johnson (Connette), Eva Nell Bradley Parrish (Hargrave), Betty Bradley Windsor, and she was the last living member of the Bradley family of 10 siblings. Annie was a single mom for most of her life, losing her husband at a young age. She demonstrated hard work, faithfulness to God, and Christian family values. Annie retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 38 years of service. She treasured her family and friends, loved gardening, and making loved ones pinto beans and cornbread, green beans and mashed potatoes. In her elder years, she was content in all situations, pleasant and patient, rarely complaining, and grateful for the small things in life. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lucy Cook Slater (Mike); two granddaughters, Amanda Cook Rhodes (Steven), and Ashley Cook Flanery (Derick); four great-grandchildren, Brady and Piper Rhodes, Kaleb and Salem Flanery; special nieces and nephew, Patsy Johnson Gilliland (Peter), Frankabelle Scruggs, Suzy Lorentz (Bill), LuAnn Teague (Bill), Jerry Parrish (Gaye), and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at College Park Baptist Church with Rev. Ramon Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will follow the services at Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to College Park Baptist Church, 1701 Polo Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or Coach Lanny Cook Scholarship Fund, 3208 Colby Chase Drive, Apex, NC 27539. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Cook family.
