Annie Beamon

Mrs. Annie Mecum Beamon, 96, passed away at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center in Yadkinville, Friday, March 8, 2019. She was born August 13, 1922 to Cora Baker Mecum and Shade Morris Mecum in Forsyth County, and grew up in the Children’s Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Beamon was a charter member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, serving as its first pianist and choir director. She was also the children’s choir director and was a Sunday School teacher. She was employed by the FBI in Washington, DC under J. Edgar Hoover, and retired from Hanes Hosiery where she served as Executive Secretary to the Director of Human Resources. An avid bowler, Mrs. Beamon won over 200 gold medals and more than 100 silver medals in the Senior Olympics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert I. Beamon, Sr.; son, James Morris Beamon; daughter, Pamela Beamon; grandson, Jason Beamon; brothers, Shade Morris Mecum and John Mecum; and sister, Lucille Rodenheiser. Surviving are her children, Albert I. Beamon, Jr. (Sherry) of Huntersville, and Robin B. Dotson (Eddy) of Advance; grandchildren, Brandon Beamon Gordon (Greg), Anna Smith, Matthew Swaim (Hayley Cheatwood), Wesley Swaim (Jana), and Robert Dotson; great grandchildren, Jake Beamon (Megan), Katie Beamon Portillo (Ramon), Ashley Gordon, Grace Gordon, Jeremy Hayden Swaim, and Piper Lily Swaim; as well as a sister, Pat Bower of Deerfield Beach, FL. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 11, 2019 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Christa Warise officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, 430 Weisner St, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
