Anna Lorraine Scott Folwell, 84, of Winston-Salem, NC, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on November 20, 2010. She was born November 27, 1925 in Greensboro, NC to Dalton and Bernice Scott. Lorraine was a faithful member of Ardmore Baptist Church since 1965 and also attended College Park Baptist. She was the person that kept up with everyone she loved, including birthdays, anniversaries and accomplishments; affectionately known by her family as the ""the walking calendar"". For over twenty years, Lorraine worked the switchboard at NC Baptist Hospital. She knew everyone's name and number - making connections was her hallmark at work and in life. On occasion, her prayer list exceeded 75, (all from memory). We will all miss her loving attention and care. During one of her last alert moments at the hospital, she had to remind Dale and Synthia that they had two cars in the parking deck. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Dalton Reeves Folwell and her sister, Frances. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Linda and David Smith, Larry and Julie Folwell, and Dale and Synthia Folwell. Lorraine was blessed with eight grandchildren: Thomas and Josh Miller, Jared, Emily and Elizabeth Folwell, and Anna and Stephen Folwell. One of six sisters, known as ""the Scott sisters"" of 807 Scott Avenue, she is survived by Cora Leigh, Dorothy, Emma Lou and Joann As the ""4th"" of six, she was known for her resilience without bitterness and her ability to find humor. Asked once to play a song on the piano, she responded that she knew how to play the first verse but not the second. Her humor only increased as her hearing decreased. While on a ten year stay with Julie and Larry in Abilene, TX. a gentleman asked to ""CARRY"" something for her, and she heard it as a proposal to ""MARRY"" her! Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Ardmore Baptist Church (Miller st.) in Winston Salem, NC. There will be a viewing at 12:00 with the service at 1:00pm. Family will greet friends afterwards in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow 3:30 pm at Springfield Friends Church Cemetery in High Point.
