Kernersville – Mrs. Ann Gayle (Ingram) Shull, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Village Care of King. Ann was born in King, NC on August 5, 1943, to Oscar and Mozelle Ingram. She was raised in Stokes County, attending King High School where she received Salutatorian honors in the class of 1961.
After graduation, Ann married Harold Shull. She was previously employed with Hanes Hosiery but spent most of her time as a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her family. She loved to travel and bake. You were only too lucky if you ever tasted Ann’s Moravian Cookies or pound cakes. She spent many hours baking with her children, grandchildren, as well as most of her great grands until her terrible disease took over.
Ann was a member of Believers Baptist Church for 18 years. Her passion was teaching children about Jesus which she did so faithfully for over 60 years.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Don and Larry as well as her sister, Dorthy. Ann is survived by her husband and anchor of 63 years, Harold Shull; her children, Tammy Thompson (Wayne), Kim Gerber (Tim), and Mark Shull (Tina); her sister, Margaret; 9 grandchildren, Justin, Meagan, Heather, Hannah, Tyler, Madison, Derek, Hagen, and Dillion; and 11 great grandchildren, Avelyn, Bryce, Jackson, Beckett, Jordan, Maverick, Brynnlee, Emmett, Reese, Jace, and Bailey.
A funeral service for Ann will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Don McGee and Pastor Tim Gerber officiating. A private family burial will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ann’s memory to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to our wonderful caregivers, Marilyn, Kay, Lisa, and Patty. As well as Williams Adult Day Center, Village Care of King and Trellis Supportive Care who cared, loved and significantly improved Ann’s quality of life while fighting Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
