Mrs. Ann Florence Fairbairn Miah, age 82, of Clemmons, North Carolina, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022 at Bermuda Village, North Carolina. She was born June 3, 1940 in Acock's Green, Birmingham, England to the late Andrew Napier Fairbairn and Olive Birks Fairbairn. Ann retired working from Price Waterhouse and Salem National Lease. She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Harris Miah, whom she openly loved every day of their 57 years of marriage. Ann was the mother of their two sons, Christopher G. Miah, and Andrew D. Miah, whom she loved and adored and was most proud of raising them while they were growing up.
Ann met her future husband on a blind date on February 18, 1964. What a lucky guy he was for having been blessed with almost 60 years of unconditional love. He will sadly miss his very kind, caring and thoughtful sweetheart. Ann and Christopher were married on September 18, 1965 at St. Catherine's of Sienna Catholic Church in Birmingham, England.
They first lived in Burntwood, outside of Lichfield, Staffordshire, England, where Ann started her lifelong passion for working outdoors in her garden and being close to nature. Ann and Christopher moved to the United States in June 1972. This became the start of a new journey for Ann which lasted 50 years.
Ann loved and embraced the United States as her new country and she and Christopher became very proud U.S. citizens on October 18, 1979. They lived in Somers, NY with their young family, where Ann loved being involved in the Cub Scouts, soccer camps, PTA, and life that centered around the Somers school system.
Ann and Christopher lived in Connecticut and New York, but it was Clemmons, North Carolina that became her hometown for 36 years. She continued to be actively involved with both her sons' education while they were students at Forsyth Country Day School.
Ann will always be remembered for the wonderful smile she gave to everyone she met, having beautiful big blue eyes, when wide open would melt everyone away. When she made friends, they would be close to her forever. She will be remembered as always thoughtful and kind, never forgetting the importance of her friends' lives. She always cherished special moments, birthdays and holidays which she welcomed with thoughtful gifts.
Besides her family, Ann had a special love of animals, especially dogs. She had many pets throughout her life, all of which brought much joy and love to her.
Ann will be sorely missed by those who have known her best. Her family will love and honor Ann every day until we meet again. It is only in our loss that we now fully realize what a wonderful gift from God we had with Ann, as a wife, as a mom, and a friend.
The family will be having a private funeral service at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel and Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Clemmons. There will be a memorial service for Ann in England next year for all her relatives to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or Dementia Society of America . Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
