Mrs. Ann Sneed May, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, in Winston-Salem with her family by her side. Born in Akron, Ohio, August 10, 1919, she was the daughter of Benjamin Leonard Sneed and Clara Dorsett Sneed Finch, both deceased. She is pre-deceased by her brother, John Gary Sneed, and is survived by her sister, Mary Helen Sneed Linens of Graham. She was the wife of Commie Luther ""C. L."" May, Jr. who preceded her in death. Ann was a graduate of Burlington High School and attended Elon College. She had a life-long love of music, the arts and dance. She was a longtime member of Saint Philip's Episcopal Church, Durham, where she was active in the Altar Guild and the Women's Auxiliary. She had been an active participant in the Dogwood Garden Club, the Durham Women's Club, and several local bridge clubs. She considered her neighborhood on Vista Street her extended family. Ann May is survived by one son, Commie Luther ""Tripp"" May, III (wife Jeannie) of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Mary Virginia May Pickett (husband Bob) of Asheboro. There are five grandchildren: Julie Brigman (husband Jeffrey) of Asheboro; Russ May of Winston-Salem; Doug Pickett of New York City; Liz May of Winston-Salem; and David Pickett of Greensboro. There are two great-grandchildren: Taylor Wade and Teely Brigman, both of Asheboro. She had many loving in-laws including cousins, a niece and nephews, Special friends include: Deidre Nesteruk of New York City and Rebecca Post of Greensboro. There will be a visitation on Monday, August 30, from 9-10:30am at Bethabara Moravian Church, 2102 Bethabara Road, Winston-Salem. The Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 30, at 3pm at Saint Philip's Episcopal Church, 403 East Main Street, Durham. The family will receive friends at the church, following the service. Ann May lived as a young adult in Alamance County. She and C. L. made their home in Durham for 54 years. In 2005 she moved to Winston-Salem and resided with her son's family. In 2009 she became a resident of Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro. More recently she was under the care of Brian Skilled Nursing Center, Winston-Salem.
