Geneva Ann Lee (affectionately known by her family as Lee-Lee), went to be with our Gracious Lord and Savior on Monday, September 14th. Ann was born on February 6, 1938 in Kenansville, North Carolina, to Albert Joseph Dickson and Robanna Griggs Dickson. Her brothers Griggs Cameron Dickson and Ralph Dickson, who died as an infant, preceded her in death. Ann grew up and attended high school in Garner, and attended college at Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina. A dedicated homemaker, an entrepreneur who started her own cross-stitch business, and a part time employee at a local frame shop, Ann wore many hats.
Ann will be remembered most for the lives she touched with her hospitality, generosity, and love. Love was the underlying theme of her day-to-day life, and she truly embodied the phrase “never met a stranger”. Ann was continually present and supportive in the lives of her grandchildren, whether it be attending a sporting event, a dance recital, or a birthday. Ann was also a loyal and loving friend, involved in bridge club and continuing to meet with her high school friends throughout the duration of her life. Ann always had a ready smile and was quick to welcome anyone and everyone into her home, generously “adopting” many into her family throughout the years and blessing others with her world-famous pecan pies. She also had an avid love for all things UNC sports, and was known to call after a Carolina victory to say, “whose house” which was followed by a resounding “Heels house”. Additionally, Ann loved spending time at the beach, collecting an expansive array of seashells she displayed in her home.
Ann is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Robert Lee and his son Rick Lee, her four children, Sandra Jones and husband Linwood, David Phipps and wife Lynn, Kim Lanning and husband Phil, John Phipps and fiancé Amanda Strawbridge, her sixteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A small family service is being held at Hope Church, Ann and Ken’s home church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ann to Trellis Supportive Care, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane Winston- Salem, NC 27103, to Hope Presbyterian Church, 2050 N Peace Haven Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to the charity of your choosing. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
