Ann Garrett Kight

WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Mrs. Ann Garrett Kight, 81, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Kight was born on September 6, 1933 in Rome, Georgia to the late Charles S. Garrett and Bessie Mae Garrett. Ann's whole life was dedicated to her husband and supporting his career at JC Penney, also to her sons, and grandchildren. She bravely fought Leukemia for 23 years before passing away to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven. She was loving, caring and devoted to her family. She loved adventure and traveling, and enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean and Europe. She worked for Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem for many years. She also was a dedicated member of the Adult 10 Sunday School group at Ardmore Baptist Church. She carried passions for singing, volunteering, painting, gardening, and reading. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ray E. Kight Jr., of Winston Salem, born in Rome, Georgia; two sons, David R. Kight (Jennifer), and Todd E. Kight (Karen); five grandchildren, Jaime Welch (Jason), Matthew, Molly, Garrett and Grant Kight; one great granddaughter, Emerson Welch; one brother, Leon Garrett (Joann) of Austell, GA; one sister in law, Kathryn Padgett, two brother in laws, Hulyn Kight (Anne) and Kenneth Kight (Carol), all of Rome, GA; as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Don Gordon and Rev. Paul Mullen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon on Wednesday at the church.
