Ann Pollard Edwards

Mrs. Ann Pollard Edwards, 94, went to be with her Lord Thursday morning, April 24, 2014. She was born on October 31, 1919 in Alleghany County, to the late Charlie Gwen and Mallie Maines Pollard. Ann was a faithful member of Hanes Baptist Church and loved her family, church family, and friends very much. She was a virtuous, Godly woman, who had a gift of hospitality and welcomed anyone in her home with open arms. Ann was a hard worker and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and taking senior bus tours. She was preceded in death by her husband Carlie F. Edwards, son Carl Dean Edwards, and six siblings. Ann is survived by two daughters Shirley Hellard and Brenda Byrd (Roy); daughter-in-law Nancy Edwards; five grandchildren Cheryl Moorefield (Wayne), Ronald Byrd, Gary Byrd (Stephanie), Renee Weaver (Jon), and Kevin Byrd (Angie); ten great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at Hanes Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Holley and Pastor Harold Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Sunday evening at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
