Ann Cockrell Davis, who taught English for more than 20 years at schools in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Durham, N.C., and Auburn, Ala., died Sunday, Nov. 29 in Clemmons. She was 62. Mrs. Davis, a native of Decatur, Ala., lived from Alaska to France while growing up in an Army family. She earned a bachelor's degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and a master's degree at Oakland University in Michigan. She also attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga., and Auburn University in Alabama. Mrs. Davis taught in high school, middle school and technical school. Her longest tenure was at Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, where she taught from 1984-2001, except for a year in middle school. A disability forced her to retire early. Among her chief interests: family, reading, fitness and travel. Survivors include her husband, Owen Davis of Clemmons; daughter Elizabeth Kloha (Bryan) of Clemmons; son Rob Davis (Lynne) of Houston; sister Elizabeth Cockrell Loeb of Forrest City, Ark., and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Clemmons Presbyterian Church, 3930 Clemmons Road (U.S. 158) with Dr. William Hoyle officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Auburn, Ala.
