Miss Amber Kristina Swing, was called home on Friday, March 13, 2015. On June 16, 1978, God blessed us with an angel. In her 36 years, Amber suffered more than most people could imagine. She did so with smiles, laughter, and kisses. Amber has brought joy to everyone she has met and changed the lives of many. God has taken her home where she can dance, sing, and run with no pain. Her parents have been honored to have Amber as a part of their lives. Amber was preceded in death by her father, Fred Allen Swing; maternal grandmother, Shirley Stanfield; paternal grandparents, Ruby Fishel Swing and Erman Lee Swing; and step-grandmother, Betty Mitchell. Surviving is her mother and step-father, Robin and Robert Mitchell; brother, James Swing; maternal grandfather, Harvey Stanfield; step-grandfather, James Mitchell; three aunts: Tammy Milette (Lorne), Avera Swicegood (Mike), and Lynn Rutledge (Len); and several cousins and extended family members. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. David Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 16 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Crestwood Baptist Church, 530 Motor Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
