Mama's Teaching Angels How To Sing! At sundown on Sunday, after a ride to Sunset Beach, Alyce Jeane Craver Craft heard the Lord's call "come home it's Suppertime!" Thanks to the example set by her mom and dad, Hoy David and Cora Lillian Craver, she had the Blessed Assurance of knowing she would someday see them again in Heaven! Alyce loved to tell the story of longing for the reunion with brothers and sisters, Georgia and Reid, Clint and Kat, Johnny and Virginia Nell. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Wayne Edwards.
From her younger years singing harmony in the Silvertones Quartet to playing piano for The Lamplighters and The Messengers, Alyce used her rich, bold voice to remind all of us to take life One Day At A Time. Her gift of quick wit and constant laughter were as good a medicine as anyone could ask for in tough times.
As a proud graduate of North Davidson High School Class of 1958, Alyce was looking forward to the 60 Year Reunion celebration! She was not letting this sickness slow her down or keep her from having fun.
Mom's journey to her Last Best Place was made more comfortable by the loving care of Dr. Bruce Brasher, Betsy and Rosa. And to Dr. Andy Harper and Kristi, we can never thank you enough for your compassion. Also we sincerely appreciate Dr. Nick Chrysson and his kind staff.
"Big Al" is lovingly remembered by daughter Marla Meade Edwards, son Chadwick Wayne Edwards and wife Debbie, and her youngest, Winburn "Little Win" Fletcher Craft, III and his dad. Her grandsons were the light of her life. Nana was so proud of Cory, wife Brittany and GREAT- grandson Brayden, Naval Petty Officer First Class, Tyler and brothers Ronnie and Nicholas, and Caleb and fiancé Kayla. She is survived by sister-in-law Karen Newsome, wonderful nieces and nephews, and cousins, and many caring friends that we could not have done without in mom's last days. Thank you to everyone for the love that you have shown.
The funeral will be Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 3 p.m. Please accept our invitation to A Celebration of Faith Singing in memory of Alyce to be held in her home town at Arcadia United Methodist Church with Pastors Eddie Evans and Patrick Marion officiating. We sincerely thank Frank and the staff of Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home for their guidance and service.
