Alvin "Al" William Wilson

Winston-Salem - Alvin ""Al"" William Wilson, 81, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Al was born May 13, 1934 in Surry County to the late Watson and Bessie Mae Wilson. Al retired from Harb's Garage, Inc. with over 50 years of service. He was active at Hiatt Memorial UMC for over 40 years and later Reynolda Church at Union Cross. Al loved working on cars, having worked on a pit crew in Grand National Racing in his early years, and restoring and building cars after his retirement. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Samantha.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Tyler Edwards; five brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Wilson; a daughter, Vanessa W. Edwards; a granddaughter, Samantha Dawn Edwards; and a sister, Betty Leonard.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Barrett Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
