KERNERSVILLE- Mr. Alvin Dodson Williams, 73, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center. Alvin was born on December 20, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Ernest Henry and Winnie Morgan Williams. He was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church and retired from Lowe's Hardware. Alvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors, family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved working in the yard. Alvin was a good man who loved the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Carlton; two brothers, Carl and Gene Williams; two sisters, Nancy Sharpe and Aleen Stembridge. He is survived by his wife Barbara Davis Williams of the home; two sons, Raymond Williams (Cheryl) and Ronald Williams; one daughter, Dina Alcorn (Ronnie), all of Reidsville; two step-daughters, Kay Winfree of Kernersville and Gail Crews (Teddy) of Colfax; one sister, Betty Seamons (JB) of Brown Summit; five grandchildren, Brandi, Amber, Ashley, Nicholas and Ailene; four step grandchildren, Angie, Brandi, Amber and Lindsey; three great-grandchildren and five great step-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30AM, Saturday April 10, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Paul Dean and Dr. Brooks Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 9 - 10:00 AM Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
