Mr. Alvin Edward Parham, 89, of Clemmons, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was born September 5, 1934 in Forsyth County, NC. He spent years working for Basset-Sacks and would go on to retire from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 37 years as a Lead Packing Mechanic. In his retirement years he worked part-time at Mock Beroth Tire on Robinhood Rd. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years Shelby Vestal Parham, his parents, James Elwood Parham and Martha Goode Parham, three brothers Conrad Parham, Richard Parham (Sambo), and Harold Parham, four sisters Rachel Boyles, Thelma Neal, Mary Alice Boles and Jeanette Spaugh, and great grandson Jud Gough. He is survived by his son, Brad Parham of Atlanta, step daughter Jennifer Pendergrass (Butch) of Tobaccoville and step son Lorne Temple (Tammy) of East Bend, four grandchildren, Lena Gough (Steve), Corey Pendergrass (Brittany), Kyle Temple (Lauren), and Ben Temple. He also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren who he dearly loved. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Crews. Alvin valued his membership at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church where he was actively engaged and a member of the choir. His faith in the Lord guided him in his daily life and his spiritual journey. He was quick witted and a generous member of his community and was a great friend to many. The family will receive family and friends from 2-3 pm Saturday July 20, 2024 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church in Lewisville, NC. A funeral service will follow immediately in the sanctuary, the Rev. Ryan Mendenhall officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice in Alvin's name.
