Alvin Daish

DAISH Pfafftown - Mr. Alvin Daish, 81, formerly of New York, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1927 in Schenectady County, NY to the late Charles Edward and Nellie Sophia Johnson Daish. Mr. Daish proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and later became a member of the V.F.W. He retired from General Electric with 37 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Daish was an avid downhill skier. He served as President of the Single Ski Club for two years and was a 25 year member of the Sitzmarker Ski Club. Mr. Daish loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed Big Bands and dancing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Daish was preceded in death by one brother, Charles. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Daish; two daughters, Laura (Robert) Thompson and Cindy (Bill) Britton; two granddaughters, Jessica and Annelise Britton; mother-in-law, Mildred Garafalo. A memorial service will be conducted 6:30 P.M. Friday, February 27 at Vienna Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Clawson officiating.
