Mrs. Alva Gabard Garner passed away Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Village Care of King. She was born in Davie county on January 15, 1926 to the late Charlie and Lila Gabard. Alva attended Gospel Baptist Church in Pinnacle. She loved gardening but most importantly she loved spending time with her family. Alva is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Lee Garner and three brothers. She is survived by two daughters Bonnie and husband Steve Gordon, of King, and Brenda and husband Blane Kinney of King; three sons Bobby and wife Leighanne Garner of Denton, Billy and wife Jamie Poole of Ashboro, and Tom and wife Mary Poole of Florida; two sisters Dorothy Aldridge of Thomasville, and Ann Harrison of Lexington; and grandchildren Steve Amos, Matthew and wife Jackie Kirby, Kristan Garner, Hanna Garner, Robbie Poole, Travis Poole, Mary Anne Poole, Peggy Poole, Laura Jane Poole, and Charlie Poole. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 15, 2010 at Parklawn Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. John Hilton and Mr. Matt Towe officiating.
