Alva 'Al' Lewis Cruise

CRUISE - RURAL HALL Mr. Alva ""Al"" Lewis Cruise, 79, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013. He was born in Carroll County, VA on June 25, 1933 to the late Odessa Horton Cruise and Loris Howard Cruise. Mr. Cruise proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Paragon Food Center with 36 years of service as a meat cutter. Mr. Cruise was a member of Century Park Baptist Church in Kernersville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cruise was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Bruce Cruise and Everett Cruise; and a grandson, Joshua Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lewis Cruise of the home; two daughters, Shayron Gragg (Ronald) of Granite Falls and Debbie Cruise of Wilmington; two step-sons, Larry Dale Cooper Jr. (Mitzi) of Clemmons and Daryl Cooper (Tammy) of Rural Hall; four grandchildren: Lauren Gragg, Elliot Gragg, Sarah Cooper and Anna Cooper; one brother, Arlyess Cruise of Galax, VA and Faye Evans of Glade Valley. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Glenn Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The American Heart Association, P.O.
