Alta Stanbery Wilson

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -
Alta Stanbery Wilson passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on March 13, 2015. She was born on January 17, 1925 to Josephine Ray Stanbery and Loyd Council Stanbery in Watauga County. Alta was a wonderful cook. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her devoted family. In addition to her parents, Alta was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Roger Wilson, Sr.; daughter, Patsy Wilson Harper; three brothers, J.C. Stanbery (Louise), Blaine Stanbery (Lillian), and Harold Stanbery; and two sisters, Binah Stanbery and Beulah Stanbery. Alta is survived by her son Roy R. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Martha; daughter, Gaile Wilson Tolzman; five grandchildren, Susan Boles, Michele Keisling, Nichole McGill, Paul Wilson, and Loyd Wilson; nine great-grandchildren, Megan, Kelley, Jonna, Samantha, Madison, Avery, Gabby, Conner, Alex, Alexa, and Trathen; four great great-grandchildren, Rylee, Maci, Kelan, and Nolan; a sister-in-law, Betsy Stanbery; also numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Parklawn Memorial Park immediately following the service.
