Alpha Wall Womble

Alpha Louise Hamlin Wall Womble, age 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, after her yearlong battle with cancer. She was born on November 29, 1935, to Osia and Stacye Hamlin in Dobson, North Carolina on a family farm, and quickly learned the importance of loyalty and devotion to family, commitment to hard work, and beginning her love for all things home and garden. As retired owner of Lewisville Furniture, Alpha enjoyed helping others with her love of style and making things beautiful while building relationships with those in her community. She was quick to help and serve alongside others as member of Calvary Baptist Church using her talents of baking and cooking. Whether playing cards with friends, growing a beautiful garden, or being available for conversation or an outing, she was ready to enjoy people and life. God made her an example to others with her thoughtfulness, sincere care, and love for the people she was around. She had a quiet strength about her, making her dependable and admirable. She sacrificed and was generous. Alpha enjoyed friends and family and especially lit up when the "children" were around!

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harold Wall. She is survived by her husband, John Womble; daughter, Kim Acree (John); brother, Tommy Hamlin; sisters, Linda White and Gaye Garbarino; granddaughter, Millicent Pollinger (Seth); great grandchildren, Annie Lou Pollinger, Wil Pollinger, and Emma Lea Pollinger; John Womble’s children, Jeff (Julie) and their children, Matt and Mandy; Beth (Chris) and their children, Jillian, Dorian, and Ian; David (Maria) and their children, Jake and Cheyenne; and nieces, nephews, and friends. The family wants to send their heartfelt thanks to the many friends, neighbors, church, medical caregivers, and extended family who loved Alpha faithfully to her last day.
