Alon Edward Utt

Mr. Alon Edward Utt, 88, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Forsyth County on June 29, 1927 to the late John Martin and Hattie Gregory Utt. Mr. Utt was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 30 years of service and was a member of Unity Moravian Church. He was considered a Master Scroller. Mr. Utt founded and was president of the Carolina Scrollers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Oakellee Spainhour Utt; brother, Arlos Utt and two sisters, Mabel McBride and Rachel Hepler. Surviving is his wife, Lou Montgomery Utt; four children, Lisa Perryman (Daniel) of Bethania, Stacy Wooten (Daniel) of Winston-Salem, Andrew Fansler (Kim) of Winston-Salem, and Jeannie Felten (Jason) of Lewisville; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Unity Moravian Church with Rev. Wayne Burkette officiating. Burial will follow at the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
