Alma Louise Myers Morton

Mrs. Alma Louise Myers Morton, 96, passed away at her residence on May 23, 2014. She was born September 5, 1917 in Oriskany, VA to the late Emmett Marion Myers and Alma Voit Myers. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Morton was a graduate of Reynolds High School and was retired from Southern Bell with 21 years of service, as well as a member of Bell South Telephone Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Comfort Devilla Morton and two brothers, Jack and Frank Myers. Mrs. Morton is survived by her children, Joseph Morton, Mark Morton (Elizabeth), Rebecca Shores, and Christopher Morton (Sheila); seven grandchildren, Joseph Morton, Jr., Jennifer M. Blackburn (Ricky), Jeff Morton (Lupita), Jonathan Morton (Jaclyn), Amy Smith, Robert Shores (Anna), and Marcie Puckett. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, May 26, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Darrell Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Storehouse for Jesus, 675 E. Lexington Rd., Mocksville, NC 27028.
