Alma Mcbride

Alma Jean Williams McBride, 94, of Winston-Salem, NC, died Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Rose Tara Senior Living Center in King, NC. She was born August 28, 1927, in Surry County to the late John Hudson Williams and late Grace Leona Collins Williams. Alma Jean is predeceased by her husband George Washington (G.W.) McBride and her son George Edward (Eddie) McBride, and sisters Camellia Watson and Peggy Ziglar. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie McBride Parks and husband, Dan, of Greensboro; four grandchildren, George Edward “Eddie” McBride Jr. (Shannon), Matthew Thomas Thacker (Melanie), Casey McBride (Yamile), and Trent Gardner; four great grandchildren, Connor McBride, Madison Thacker, Mason Thacker, and Gracie McBride; her sister, Jackie Brewer; her nephew Johnny Ziglar, and several nieces. Alma Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a devoted friend. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was often called “the best cook in Winston-Salem.” She had an amazing wit, and astounded many with her quick quips! She loved spending time with her husband at their vacation home on Lake Norman. In her later years, Alma Jean enjoyed living at Christian Village in King, NC, and she will be missed by all the “Golden Girls.” In the last two years, Alma Jean was a resident at Rose Tara Senior Living. She enjoyed her life there and dearly loved all of her caregivers. The warmth and love that everyone at Rose Tara returned to Alma Jean enriched her life and was immeasurable to her family. The family would also like to thank Well Care Hospice, Advance, NC, for their care and support and guidance during this time. After Covid restrictions are lifted, a Celebration of Life will be held in Alma Jean’s honor.
