Mrs. Alma Hicks Hayworth, 89, of Homestead Hills in Winston-Salem died Tuesday night September 17, 2013 at her home. She was born January 14, 1924 in Winston-Salem to Isaac G. and Ruth Heilig Hicks. She graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School, attended Women's College (now UNC-G), and graduated from the City Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Rural Hall Women's Club and the Twin City Lady Lions. A lifelong member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the Augsburg Quilters, and Circle #7. She was retired office manager for Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, which her husband W. Paul Hayworth cofounded. She is survived by two daughters, Ginny (and husband Ben) Bosma of Tipp City, OH, Marty (and husband Joe) Tanyi of Clemmons; one son, Terry (and wife Susan) Hayworth of Advance; six grandchildren, Chris Bosma, Lauren Hayworth, Lisa Russell, Jarrod Hayworth, Katelyn Tanyi, and Laura Tanyi; four great- grandchildren; her canine companion Sophie; and many special friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday September 23, 2013 at Augsburg Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Rinn and Rev. Daniel Pugh. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at other times at their individual homes. A private graveside service for the family will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church, 845 West Fifth St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
