Mrs. Alma Barnes Hardiman, 95, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her home. She was born November 1, 1913 in Davie County to the late James and Mattie Minor Barnes. Mrs. Hardiman attended Hanes United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Archie Hardiman and one son, Delano Hardiman and his wife Gerri. Surviving are two daughters, Lois Sykes (Clarence) and Carolyn Nelson (James), all of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, Diann Sheridan (Tom) of Winston-Salem, Leigh Hardiman of Winston-Salem, Jeff Hardiman (Mona) of Midway, Gregg Hardiman of Winston-Salem, Lori Hardiman (Alan Wheeler) of Winston-Salem, Ricky Nelson (Moreschi) of Wilmington, Michelle Henderson (Roy) of Winston-Salem, Brandon Sykes also of Winston-Salem; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Betty Plott (J.H.) of Advance and two brothers, Tom Barnes and Coy Barnes, both of Advance. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Baileys Chapel Methodist Church in Advance. There is no stated visitation. The family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care Center and Bayada nurse, Barbara Lowder.
