Winston Salem - Mrs. Alma Throckmorton Cook, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 18, 1923 in Stokes Co. to the late Katie Hicks and Robert Joyce. Alma was a long time member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rufus B. Throckmorton, second husband, Chester A. Cook, one son, Robert Throckmorton, two brothers, and three sisters. Surviving are; one daughter Brenda T. Ball (Walden) of Winston Salem, one son Jerry Throckmorton (Karen) of West Field, two grandchildren, Anthony Ball (Sheila), Christa Coppley (Marshall), and five great- grandchildren, one sister, Mattie Rutledge (Robert) of Walnut Cove, four stepdaughters, Donna Nelson, Linda Harris, Kathy Cook, Susan Cardwell, and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Bobby Roberson, and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Gideons International P.O.
