Mrs. Allison Haynes Cook, age 69 of Mocksville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023. She was born December 16, 1953 in Surry County to the late Charles David Haynes and Gray Sydnor Haynes. Mrs. Cook worked as an X-Ray Technician for Mt. Airy Hospital, then began volunteering at Pinebrook Elementary once her son started school. She enjoyed working with the students so much that she later joined as a teacher’s assistant. She had a special gift of patience and a nurturing nature that made her well suited for the job. She later returned to the medical field as an X-Ray technician at Eagle Physicians of Greensboro and Guilford College Walk-in-Clinic, where she developed many life long friendships. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-six years, James A. Cook and a nephew Russell Haynes. She is survived by her son, Joseph Cook (BreeAnn) of Mocksville; one step-son, James “Jimmy” Cook, Jr. (Valerie); one grandson, Warren Cook; two sisters, Caroline Paulson (Tom) and Charlotte Wall (George); two brothers, David Haynes (Dawn Thomas) and Frank Haynes; one sister-in-law, Gena Chisholm (Tommy) and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 31, 2023 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel by Rev. Francis Smith.
