Allen "A.B." Whitfield

Mr. Allen Bryant “A.B.” Whitfield, 79, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Sanford, NC on September 10, 1942. A.B. retired from Piedmont Natural Gas after many years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew him. A.B. will be remembered for his loving “gruffness’, his huge heart and his wonderful sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Jim Wall; a brother-in-law, Bruce Swaim; and a son-in-law, Doug Miles, Jr. A.B. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jan Whitfield; a daughter, Angie Miles; a son, Geoff Whitfield (Allison); three grandchildren, Preston Miles (Jon), Haley Whitfield and Nicole Parks (Todd); three sisters, Susie Swaim, Robin Hobson (Jimmy) and Vikki Brown; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is also survived by his special fur babies, Gizmo and Lacey. Following the wishes of Mr. Whitfield, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lions Club International or the Forsyth Humane Society.
