Allen DeLeon Spain, 75, of Kernersville, NC, passed away on October 11, 2024. Born on May 9, 1949, Allen was revered as a true gentleman who dedicated himself to his family and community.
Allen proudly served in the U.S. Army, completing a 13-month tenure before receiving an honorable medical discharge. After his military service, he embarked on a noteworthy career with the United States Postal Service, where he retired as an I.T. Manager after 30 years.
He was a devout member of Grace United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC. Allen's commitment to community service extended through his involvement with the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Order of the Amaranth, and other Masonic bodies. His hobbies included playing golf, woodworking, building computers, camping, and most of all, doting on his grandsons.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy Spain; son, Allen Spain Jr.; daughter-in-law, Michelle Spain; grandsons, Luke, Cole, Logan, and Andrew; brother, Sheldon Spain; sister, Lucinda Reams; and brother-in-law, Raymond Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father, Drury Spain; mother, Daisy Fitcher; and grandmother, Elizabeth Spain.
A memorial service to celebrate the lives of both Allen Spain Sr. and Kathy will be held at 4:30 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Allen can be made to the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation, an organization close to his heart.
