Allan Daniel Lambert

Allan Daniel Lambert, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 15, 1926 in Walkertown, N.C. to Allen Dewitt and Madie (Gourley) Lambert. Allan graduated from Hanes High School in Winston-Salem and joined the U. S. Navy during World War II, serving aboard the USS Athedon in Australia and the Philippines. On June 17, 1950, he married the love of his life, Nell Markland. Together they had a daughter and a son. Allan and Nell enjoyed traveling together to annual gatherings of United Travelers of America, Retired Police Officers Association, and USS Athedon Reunions where he made lifelong relationships with many friends. They also joined friends on Wake Forest sports event bus trips, Methodist Church Conferences and adventures to new locations.
Allan's 40 year career in the Administrative Office of The Courts ended serving as Assistant Clerk of Superior Court in North Carolina. He served two years as President of North Carolina Retired Peace Officers Association, Inc. Throughout his career and retirement years, Allan shared his time and talents in many humanitarian volunteer positions. In addition to being the ""go to"" person on several committees of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church and helping with all church fundraisers, he was the recipient of the United Methodist Men Laity Award as well as a Certificate of Appreciation for 15 Years of Distinguished Service as Treasurer at Konnoak Hills UMC. As a Charter member of the Konnoak Hills Lions Club for over 50 years, he served two terms as president and promoted the organization his entire life, receiving the Jack Stickley Fellow Award for Dedicated Humanitarian Service to the North Carolina Foundation. He also spent many years stocking the shelves at Sunnyside Ministries.
Allan's special interests and hobbies included drawing cartoons to entertain kids, fishing, raising a family and doing unspoken good deeds. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone that met him. His very special talent for finding the good in everyone and challenging them to let go of problems and move forward earned him the title of ""very special angel"" by many who loved him and were recipients of his kindness. In his quiet demeanor, he nourished people around him with love, faith, and humor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Nell; daughter Diann Lambert Revels (Randy); son Mark Allan Lambert (Jewel), grandsons Kent Allan Ball and Cameron Allan Lambert, great granddaughter Isabella Ball, sister-in-law Brenda Markland Kelley (David) and many nieces and nephews.
