Aline Cheatwood

Mabel Aline McNeil Cheatwood was born on May 23, 1924 to Thomas & Fairie McNeil in Millers Creek, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on April 27, 2022.

Aline led a very fulfilling and spiritual life and helped raise four very successful children, whom she loved dearly. She was extremely proud of each of their accomplishments, as well as, the wonderful grandchildren that each blessed her with. Since 1958 Aline was a very faithful member of Robinhood Road Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and pulpit floral designer. Her love of flowers led her to become a florist for most of her adult life. She grew a variety of plants/flowers and loved sharing “starts” of them with anyone that was interested. Her favorite color was blue, just like her eyes for which she got the nickname “Sapphire” from her husband, Voyce.

In addition to her parents, Aline was preceded in death by her husband, Voyce M Cheatwood, Sr., grandson, Drew and her four sisters: Ruby Gottheld, Lucille Deal, Louise Deal and Willa Mae Lankford. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Charlene Bartko, V Cheatwood, Jr. (Donna), Neil Cheatwood (Tammy) and Camarra Kidd (Jeff); seven grandchildren: Allyson Faltys (Charlene), Ryan Cheatwood (V), Benjamin, Meredith & Jonathan Cheatwood (Neil), Kaitlin & Sy Kidd (Camarra); three great-grandchildren: Katie, Hayden & Ellie Faltys (Allyson), and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Robinhood Road Baptist Church, with Pastor John Hackworth officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow immediately afterwards at Forsyth Memorial Cemetery, down by the gazing pond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care Foundation, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
