Alice Victoria Smith

Kernersville - Alice Eaton Smith, came to her final rest in God Sunday, March 1, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born April 21, 1923 to Mattie and Silas Eaton, the youngest of seven daughters, followed by four sons. She retired from Burlington Industries after a 32 year career. She was a faithful member of the Kernersville Moravian Church for 57 yrs; serving as a diener for 40 years and a member of the Open Door Sunday School class. Alice worked with Women's Fellowship in making thousands of chicken pies to benefit youth missions trips, Sunny Side Ministry, Crisis Control and the Kernersville Stocking Fund, of which she was an enthusiastic volunteer. The joy in her life was caring for her three children and family. Survivors include daughter Rose (Robert) Sams of Kernersville; daughter Minnie (Jerry) Bowden, of Duluth, GA; Rev. B. David (Kim Ronald) Smith, son of Lititz, PA, grandson, Dale Robertson of Winston Salem, granddaughter DeDe (Kevin) Bush of Clemmons, her special little Tyler, a great- grandson, three brothers, Bill, Clyde, and James Eaton of Kernersville. Funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Kernersville Moravian Church with Rev. Don Winters officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends 6-8 Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family expresses appreciation for the care and love extended to Alice by the Kerner Ridge Assisted Living Staff and the Palliative Care Center of Forsyth Medical Center.
