Alice Whiteheart Ingram

Mrs. Alice Whiteheart Ingram, age 94, of Stanleyville, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Ingram was born in Mt. Airy on June 30, 1915 the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ella Slate Farmer. She retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1975. Her main joy in life was traveling and staying active with her friends, family and pets. Mrs. Ingram was the oldest member of Kingswood United Methodist Church of Rural Hall. She was also a member of the Women's Circle Club and the Rural Hall Senior Citizen's Club. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ingram was preceded in death by, her step-father, Albert (Bud) Miller; her first husband, Herbert Clay Whiteheart; and her last husband, Carl C. Ingram. Surviving are two sons, Herbert E. (Gene) Whiteheart and wife, Pat of Winston-Salem and Louis W. Whiteheart and wife, Glenda of Germanton. She was loved by seven grandchildren, Sherri Barnhill of Richmond, VA, Kathy Whiteheart of Winston-Salem, Clay Whiteheart and wife, Katy of Greensboro, Lynn Virgil and husband, Kevin of London, UK, Debra Whiteheart of Durham, Louis Whiteheart II of Greensboro, Matthew Whiteheart of Raleigh; and also four great-grandchildren. Remembered are two step-daughters, Linda Gayle Franks of Jacksonville, FL and Donna Hickman (Bill) of Winston-Salem. A Graveside Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 at Salem Cemetery with the Rev. Sidney Lanier officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kingswood United Methodist Church, PO Box 399, Rural Hall, NC 27045 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. A special thanks goes out to her neighbors, Madeline, Chessie, Vernon and Julie for all of the kindness and friendship they have shown through all the years. Also a thank you to the staff at The Oaks at Forsyth for the care given during her recuperation and to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for making her comfortable during her last days.
