Alice Faye Maynard Hester

Mrs. Alice Faye Maynard Hester, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday January 25, 2025. She was born February 15, 1945, in Matewan, West Virginia to the late Ira and Irma Maynard. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and devoted her life to making other people beautiful. Alice went to school to become a beautician and loved her time working at Stanleyville Beauty Salon for 30 years. She went on to school to become a CNA and worked at Village Care nursing home. That is where she loved spending time getting to know her patients while also fixing their make-up and hair. She enjoyed trips to Smith Mountain Lake and to the beach where she made many lasing memories. She lovingly cared for her mother, Irma Mayard, until her last days on earth. Alice spent many of the last years of her life at Village Care in King, NC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Junior Hester; her brother, Jerry Maynard; and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill VanAtta. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Snow McHone (Dwayne) and her granddaughter, Savannah Bullins (Tyler), who she loved dearly. In addition, Alice is survived by her brother David Maynard (Teresa); sister-in-law, Phyllis Maynard; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Village Care for their love and care that was given to Alice. It was Alice’s wish not to have any formal services. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC, 27017.
