Alice Cashion Chappell

Alice Cashion Chappell passed away at her home on Friday, February 10, 2017. She was born September 13, 1944 in Mecklenburg County NC to the late Ralph E. Cashion and Kathleen Riggins. Mrs. Chappell was a graduate of North Mecklenberg High School and Lees-McRae College. She was for many years an active member of the Xi Gamma chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Winston-Salem, and was a faithful congregant at Ardmore United Methodist Church, and later New Philadelphia Moravian Church. In 2015 Mrs. Chappell retired from 25 years of service at Orthopaedic Specialists of the Carolinas. She maintained a very active schedule both before and after her retirement, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing bridge, and hosting countless birthdays, social and holiday events for her friends, neighbors and family. She was predeceased by two sisters, Laura Graham and Margaret Posey, and husband, Frank C. Graham. Surviving are her husband, Robert K. Chappell of Winston-Salem; a sister, Linda Wigley of Mint Hill, NC; sons, Eric C. Graham of Winston-Salem and Thomas R. Graham of Greensboro; daughters, Emily Howell of Gastonia, Laura Graham of Clemmons, and Linda Graham of Mt. Airy; granddaughters, Sylvi Graham Griffin, Emily Graham and Laura Graham and special niece, Chere Graham. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
