WINSTON SALEM - Aldeen Agnoo ""Buck"" Tally, 87, died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at his home in accordance with his wishes. He was born on February 10, 1927 in Forsyth County to Richard Agnoo and Anna Katherine Devine Tally. Mr. Tally graduated from RJ Reynolds High School after service in the US Navy in WWII. He was later called to serve in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Southern Telephone Co. after 42 years of service. Mr. Tally was a member of Ogburn Memorial United Methodist Church (now Faith United Methodist Church) and has many friends from that association. He later became a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church and treasured his friends there. ""Buck"" enjoyed gardening, swimming at Belews Lake, cycling at Salem Lake, but his passion was kayaking - whether in the ocean at Carolina Beach or any ""white water"" he could find.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Allene Tally Sink.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Peggy C. Tally, of the home; two daughters, Anna ""Susie"" Speranza (husband, Dominic) of West Virginia and Sandra ""Sandy"" Chilton (husband Charles) of Illinois; five grandchildren, Rachel Balogh (husband, Anthony), Ashley and Sabrina Speranza; Katie and Ben Chilton. Also surviving are two children from a previous marriage, Nancy K. Brown and Daniel Tally (wife, Helen) of Texas. He has three surviving brothers, Richard D. Tally (wife, Barbara), Gary O. Tally (wife, Amy) and Thomas B. Tally (friend, Shirley Chisholm); and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, PO Box 57 Walkertown, NC 27051 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a special âThank You' to the Hospice staff for their loving care.
