Alan Arthur Miller

Mr. Alan Arthur Miller, 76, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 5, 1935 in Morrisville, VT to Arthur Wilder Simpson and Gladys Anne Basnar. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U.S. Army and after his discharge, he worked for the Honeywell and Bendix Corporations on the Minute Man missile project, as well as the Gemini and Apollo space programs. He was retired from Lucent Technologies, and also owned and operated Professional Tax Service. He was a member of Unity Church of Winston-Salem and was an avid Wake Forest fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Janes Miller. Surviving are two daughters, Meri Silveri and husband Robert, and Donna Hendrix and husband David; a son, Alan Miller, Jr. and wife Carolyn; six grandchildren, Matthew Silveri (Jessica), Michelle Silveri, Daniel Silveri, Ryan Wrenn, Lindsay Miller and Sarah Miller; three great grandchildren, Preston, Laci, and Tanner who is due in June; a dear cousin, Sandra Page (Fred); and a special friend, Frankie Lawson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday at Unity Church of Winston-Salem with the Rev. Elizabeth Forrest officiating.
