A.L. 'Bud' Fulton

Mr. Armando Lee ""Bud"" Fulton, 82, of Lewisville, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his home. Mr. Fulton was born January 19, 1929 in Winston-Salem to the late Elmer Lee and Julia Marrero Fulton. He attended South Fork Elementary and Lewisville High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1985 after 38 years. Mr. Fulton loved his family, church, community and sports. He was an active member of Clemmons Moravian Church since 1939 and was active serving on the Boards, and as a diener, usher and greeter. He was also involved with the Helping Hands, Young at Heart, and the softball team. He was active in the community, a long-time member of the Lewisville Civic Club, served as treasurer for ten years, made an Honorary Member in 1996, and was named Lewisville's Citizen of the Year in 1971. Those who knew ""Bud"" knew how much he loved ""ball."" He played basketball, baseball and softball throughout his life most recently with the Lewisville Oldies for as long as his health permitted. When he wasn't playing ball he enjoyed coaching Southwest Little League Baseball for 20 years, winning several state championships. He ran the Lewisville Softball League for 40 plus years. He was honored when the Lewisville ball field was named the ""Bud Fulton Field"" on June 9, 2000 and was named Grand Marshall of the Lewisville 2006 Holiday Parade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Armando Fulton; three brothers: Roberto Miguel Fulton, Elmer Lee Fulton, Jr. and Charlie Lee Fulton; three sisters, Sarah Julia Fulton, Dora Margarita Fulton Rumley, and Julia Rebecca Fulton Priddy. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Allgood Fulton and their seven children and spouses: Robert and Carlotta Fulton, of Clemmons, Rick and Jana Fulton of Webster, NC, Randy and Pam Fulton of Lewisville, Robin and Doug Meyer of Bullhead City, AZ, Rodney and Sue Fulton of Marietta, GA, Renita and Kent Haines of Noblesville, IN, and Rhonda and Robert Skiles of Summerfield, NC; eighteen grandchildren, Daniel, Meg, Jason (Shanna), Jenna, Jocie, Anna, Adam, Matthew (Abby), Drew, and Brent (Vanessa) Fulton; Kasey Meyer; Sarah, Jessie, Richard, Morgan, and William Haines; Kaitlyn and Kendall Skiles; and two great-grandchildren, Hagan and Hannah Fulton. He is also survived by three sisters: Bertha Graciela Fulton Gardner of Pensacola, FL; his twin, Alicia Maria Fulton Ebert of Winston-Salem; and Allie Romelia Fulton Rothrock of Fayetteville; one brother David Ruben Fulton of Pfafftown; 17 nephews, 13 nieces; and two former daughter-in-laws, Diane Wehrman Fulton of Greensboro and Kathy Franklin of Waynesville, NC. Mr. Fulton, known as Bud, Dad, and Pa-Pa Bud, was loved dearly and will be deeply missed. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Q. Ray Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance.
