Agnes Jean Yates Hunter

Mrs. Agnes Jean Yates Hunter, 87, went to be with Jesus Wednesday, April 12, 2017. She was born August 30, 1929 in Kentucky to the late Ollie and Luther Yates. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church since 1972. She enjoyed feeding birds, especially hummingbirds. Mrs. Hunter also enjoyed making dolls and was a great cook. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Hunter; eight brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Jean Collins (Bill) of Germanton and Pamela Sue Bowles (Earl) of Germanton; two granddaughters, Michelle Collins Inman (Tony) of Germanton and Tammy Gunnell Duggins of Germanton; two grandsons, Charles Collins (Stephanie) of Walnut Cove and Steve C. Gunnell, Jr. (Tina) of East Bend; five great-grandsons: Jason, Will, Adam, Matthew, and Joshua; also several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Walkertown, NC 27051 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
