Agnes Mozelle Helsabeck Hooker

Mrs. Agnes Mozelle Helsabeck Hooker, age 82, of Tobaccoville went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday morning, February 10, 2009 at Village Care of King. Mrs. Hooker was born October 12, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late Clarance Frederick and late Myrtie Agnes Newsome Helsabeck. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Rural Hall where she was a very active member as long as her health permitted, having served in various positions. Agnes was employed with the US Postal Service for 31 years and retired in 1983 from the Post Office in King. She was a member of Old Richmond Grange, The American Legion Post 290 Ladies Auxiliary, National Association for Federal Retirees, and the Old Richmond Homemakers Club. She loved to work in her flowers, to sew and quilt. Agnes made twenty or more quilts for her loving family, including a special quilt for each child and grandchild. She had a special interest for old things and learned to weave on her grandfather‘s barn loom. In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by a great-grandson; Samuel Ensley; two sisters, Mary Belle and Lucille; three brothers, Carl, Clay and C.F. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Charles Hooker of the home; two daughters, Loretta (Larry) Haithcock of King and Donna Ensley of Tobaccoville; two sons, Byron Hooker of Rural Hall and Keith (Lynn) Hooker of King; eleven grandchildren, Susan (Wane) Ward, Scott (Dawn) Haithcock, Mark Ensley, Jonathan (Stephanie) Ensley, Adam (Melinda) Ensley, Jason (Amy) Hooker, Joshua Hooker, Nathan Hooker, Emily Hooker, Kerri Hooker and Justin Hooker; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan Ensley, Isabella Ensley, Madison Hooker, Caleb Hooker, Seth Haithcock, and Grace Haithcock; also, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Penley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. this evening, Thursday, February 12 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Trade St. Suite 3J, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Samuel Newsome, Nancy Stone, Priddy Manor and Village Care of King for the exceptional care given to Agnes during this time.
