Adolphus Swanson Young

KERNERSVILLE- Mr. Adolphus Swanson Young 75, went home to be with the Lord Saturday April 3, 2010. He was born in Halifax County VA to the Late Stephen D. and Hallie Atkins Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Adolphus retired from ITT Grinell as a pipe fitter and then farmed tobacco and strawberries and loved gardening. He was a Member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and Kernersville Masonic Lodge #669. He is survived by his wife Hilda D. Young of the home; two daughters Gwen Ashley and husband Martin, Janet Kiger and husband Ralph all of Kernersville; three sons Adolphus Stephen Young, Mobile AL, Benjamin Young and wife Tammy, Belews Creek, Jonathan Young and wife Lisa, Kernersville; eight grandchildren Ashley Locklear, Kristen Bacon, Jeremiah Young, Jacob Young, Amanda Young, Seth Young, Colleen Young, and Natalie Kiger; four great grandchildren Dylan Doss, Grayson Bacon, Addison Locklear, Luke Bacon; one Canine daughter Heidi; a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday April 7, 2010 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev. Patricia Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7- 9:00 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Kate B.
