Adelinda Flores Tejano

Dr. Adelinda Mendoza Flores Tejano, 82, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 in Winston-Salem, NC.  She was born July 7, 1940 in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines to the late Roman Flores and Teofila Mendoza Flores.  She attended the University of the Philippines medical school in Manila and moved with her husband to Pittsburgh, PA for her medical/surgical residency and then to New York City for her anesthesiology fellowship.  She was licensed to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.  She settled in Kinston, NC with her family, where she proudly became a United States citizen.  Adelinda and her husband spent much of their lives getting to know their country by traveling to all the states except for one.  Loving to travel, they also explored the world, visiting many different countries.  A devout Catholic, Adelinda was very active in her parish family.  She will always be fondly remembered as a very loving, unselfishly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Adelinda is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Felipe Mazon Tejano and two brothers, Mario Flores and Danielo Flores.  She is survived by two daughters, Jenny Morgan (Mike) and Joey Stone (Mark); seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Taylor), Michael, Kit, Emmy, Nicholas, Sydney, and Lexi; one great-grandson, Isaac; two brothers, Carmelo and Eduardo; and one sister, Felina.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the Retirement Fund for the Religious, www.retirereligious.org.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
