Addison Royal Hooker, Jr.

KERNERSVILLE - Addison Royal Hooker, Jr., 76, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1936 in King, NC. to the late Addison Royal Hooker, Sr. and Nora Westmoreland Hooker. Addison was a member of Main Street Baptist Church where he received much love and support from his church family during his illness. Mr. Hooker retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. after many years of service. He enjoyed gardening, baseball, and NASCAR, but was a huge Tarheel basketball fan . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Calloway, Margaret Suttles and Janet Hooker. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Owen Hooker of the home; five sons, Thomas Addison Hooker and wife, Jana, Joseph Mark Hooker and wife, Joan, David Lee Hooker and wife, Gwenda, Samuel Greg Hooker and wife, Pam and Benjamin Leroy Hooker and wife, Pam; three step-sons, Michael Allen King and wife, Karen, David Owen King and wife, Lani, and Stephen Douglas King and wife, Pam; thirteen grandchildren; one sister, Virginia; and one brother, Charles. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Mike Willard and Rev. Wilson Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would love to express their appreciation to Dr. Betsy English, all of the staff at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living, Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation, Palliative Care of Forsyth Medical Center and Michael Crawford.
