The race is over and I have won, I get to see the Father and the Son. Mr. William “Bill” Grubbs, 83, of Walkertown passed away, Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Novant Heath Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Grubbs was born on November 25, 1934 in Walkertown to the late Rev. Charlie H. Grubbs and Rosalie Stone Grubbs. He attended Salem Chapel Christian Church and was a graduate of Walkertown High School. Bill worked 11 years at Hennis Freight lines and retired from Roadway Express with 29 years of service. He loved to travel, had a great sense of humor and loved his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie H. Grubbs Jr. and Louie Eugene Grubbs; and two sisters, Ruth Sutphin and Nancy Carol Nelson. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia George Grubbs; daughter, Vicky Grubbs deBidart; two grandsons, George A. deBidart III (Amanda) and William M. deBidart (Rachel); great-grandson, Grayson Madison “The Champ” deBidart; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Baucom (William). Mr. Grubbs is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws, Bonnie Grubbs Campbell and Audrene Finger Grubbs. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. George Murray officiating and Rev. Bryan Hullette giving a special prayer. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Chapel Christian Church, PO Box 1085, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The family would like to express their sincerest thank you to all Forsyth Medical Center nurses, doctors, and CNAs in the CVSU and on the 6th 8th floors. When You think of me look up in the sky, I will be waiting for you til the by and by.
